Diskit monastery

Diskit monastery, like most other Ladakhi gompas, is set on top of a hill. Not only that, getting up to the prayer halls involves negotiating some very high stone steps.

While I pride myself on being in reasonably good shape, I have to admit that climbing these steps with a big camera bag really made me wish for something smaller and lighter, like a Leica.

It was situations like these that made me invest in a Canon G6 as a smaller, lighter alternative to the DSLR.
