Driving the Ngirivane Loop, Pritha
jokingly asked me to produce some more lions. And almost
instantly, we turned a corner and a male lion was coming
towards us on the dirt road, soon followed by a second
lion - this one.
The ironic problem with this situation was that they
were too close to the car. With the first lion, by the
time I put the car in the right position, and switched
the focus de-limiter on my lens to close range, I had
lost all decent compositions. And the lion was so close
that I didn't want to reposition my car while so close
to it and disturb it.
We saw the second lion from some distance away, which
helped. A trail of cars was following it, and I hoped
desperately that no one would come in the midst.
Luckily, no one did and I was able to squeeze of a
few closeups and full length shots before he turned
off the road and went into the tall grass.
